Tickle Me Elmo TMX

The new Tickle Me Elmo TMX is out. My Teddy Ruxpin could never do that. I'm not sure if TMX can hold a candle to the story telling bear but he's still pretty cool.

Goodbye Daily Dancer

For over a year now the Daily Dancer has entertained us at work and at home from our computer screens, creating inventive and spur of the moment performances that made us smile or even laugh.

Today he announced that he will no longer be updating DailyDancer.com and has made his goodbye post. I spoke with him last year when I was inspired to do a couple daily dances myself. At that time he was very interested in other people's dancing and had a few guest performers on his site. My computer area last year made recording things like this far too difficult unfortunately. The lighting was horrible and I had no room to move.

Still, I continued to watch DailyDancer every day. And I have continued to even to this day. When he went on hiatus occasionally I would look through old clips and laugh. He would just bust out with dance moves not minding at all that people might laugh. In fact, WANTED them to enjoy themselves. So, it is with a sad heart I extend my goodbye to the DailyDancer. Thanks for all the performances and the all the laughs DD. They'll be missed!

Jones Halloween Soda

It is a night for celebration! Jones has released this years Halloween limited edition sodas! (Here are last years.) As a pop culture (and soda) junky I love seeing these out, it means we're nearing All Hallows Eve!

This year the flavors have improved big time! Don't worry they are offering Candy Corn Soda again but in addition they introduced Spider Cider, Berried Alive and Gruesome Grape. I got a couple 4 packs of these 8oz cans. Berried Alive is really good, a little TOO sweet and sour at the same time but Spider Cider is AMAZING. It is so fucking delicious I had a heart attack as soon as that sweet sweet apple cider touched my lips.

Candy Corn is a classic but I think I'll skip that one this year. I think these limited editions are only available at Target and there were only about 10 packs left at the Seattle Northgate location. Even if you don't like soda the cans are worth the 1.49 a pack.

Garfield

Today's Garfield is HI-larious!

Bookstores

I spend a lot of time at bookstores. Mostly Barnes and Noble because there are few other book stores anymore. I am glad that places like B&N exist but it does sadden me just a little to know that there are so few independent book stores anymore. It would be extremely hard to compete with companies like Amazon and B&N.

Amazon is great but you can't browse through an entire book of your choosing, that is something you only get at a brick and mortar store so B&N is safe from Amazon I think. (However, I do find better deals at Amazon usually. I tend to go to B&N to scan the book and then I check the prices on Amazon before I buy it.)

I really enjoy being able to browse books. The libraries are great but ever since they have gotten rid of the card catalog I don't enjoy looking for the books as much. I remember the small finger sized brass handles on each alphabetized drawer. I remember the old and somewhat battered wood my local library used for their card catalog.

I hope B&N, Amazon and non card catalogged libraries do not take over the independent book store. I hope that some libraries will still have card catalogs and most of all I hope the world continues to love books. Of that I have little doubt.

Steve Irwin RIP

Damn that is some bad news. Steve Irwin the "Crocodile Hunter" died today from a Sting Ray attack. He was 44 years old with two kids. He was a great ambassador for wildlife and he seemed like an awesome guy.

I caught his movie back in the day and it was surprisingly good. His death is a big loss to all of us, especially those who feel his work with wild animals was important. He will be missed.

Poker Wink

I'm thinking Poker Wink is more my style. I'm looking for a good place to set up my poker profile and blog too. I was pondering one with BlogSpot but I want to try something different for my poker blog. Poker Wink is cool, completely it's own thing. I started a club there for Seattle poker players so if you're from Seattle get a free account and join up. It's lonely over there!

My Way Poker

I've been looking around for social networking sites for poker players and so far I have found My Way Poker. It's a myspace clone but hey I'm used to the interface. I'm not sure the site is entirely what I'm looking for. I mean it is exactly what I'm looking for but there is something odd about it. See for yourself.

T Minus 3 Months

Our lease here is up at the end of November and since we have no intention of signing another year lease with our greedy horrible landlord we are soon going to be in the market for an apartment.

Right now we are considering moving to San Francisco where I grew up. I have a pretty good job and housing offer down there but it's expensive down there. Lucia doesn't want to leave her grandmother and brother either so there are a lot of issues there.

Another option we're considering is West Seattle. I've been over there a number of times and I wouldn't mind living someplace like that. Near Alki would be best but you know that isn't going to happen with our paychecks. Still maybe something nearby but far enough to not cost an arm and a first born child.
